The Ministry of Public Health on Sunday announced that the births and deaths registration section and its affiliated offices will be closed on Tuesday (February 8, 2022) in observance of Qatar National Sports Day.
Tuesday (Feb 8) will be an official holiday on account of the National Sports Day, the Amiri Diwan announced on Sunday.
The National Sports Day of Qatar is is marked annually on the second Tuesday of February, corresponding to February 8, 2022.
The Sports Day will be held outdoors this year, the organising committee has said. The decision comes in the wake of the Cabinet easing more COVID-19 restrictions amid a decline in new infections and higher recoveries, the committee said, which also laid down the protocols for conducting the sports event.
Team events cannot have more than 15 people, even if they are vaccinated, in a team, while individual events cannot have more than five people who are not fully vaccinated and children under the age of 12. The participants are required test negative on a rapid antigen test taken within 24 hours of their event.
All sports day participants are also required to ensure a space of at least one metre around them at all times from others during the events.
