DOHA: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) announced that it has delivered 80 tonnes of aid to Gezira and River Nile states of Sudan.

In a statement on Monday, QRCS said that in this context, it has launched a humanitarian aid convoy for the aforementioned states, in the presence of the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Sudan HE Mohamed bin Ibrahim Al Sada, and Federal Commissioner of the Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) Dr Salah Al Mubarak Youssef.

The statement added that the aid convoy includes food baskets to support families affected by war, torrents, and floods in the Nile River State, and others to help those affected by the war in Gezira State.

Ambassador Al Sada said that these aids are part of the support provided by the State of Qatar to Sudan, through QRCS, to help the conflict-affected people in displacement destinations. His Excellency pointed out that during the coming period, humanitarian aid would be deployed and distributed in Port Sudan, Red Sea State.

In turn, Dr Youssef praised the State of Qatar's continuous support for Sudan, stressing the importance of the air bridge that the State of Qatar launched to help those affected by war and its significant impact in alleviating the current situation in Sudan.

QRCS has reached out to 12 Sudanese states, distributing food and non-food aid to thousands of families, in coordination with the Sudan Red Crescent Society (SRCS) and HAC. It also provided medicines, medical equipment, and consumables for many hospitals, in coordination with Sudan's Federal Ministry of Health.
