Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) President HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al Thani has praised beIN network for winning the rights to broadcast three upcoming Olympic Games.
In an interview with BBC Sport Channel, Sheikh Joaan said the channel deserved to win the rights.
Since the launch of beIN Sports, the network and QOC have an active partnership, he added.
Sheikh Joaan said Qatar's participation in the 2016 Olympics was good, with 38 athletes participating in more than one competition, including swimming, handball, weightlifting, high jump and equestrian."We look forward to better results in the future," he said, hoping that the participation of Qatar in 2020 Tokyo Olympics will be on a much bigger scale than Rio 2016.
"After the end of the Rio 2016, we came up with a new idea, the Elite Programme, for players. We have developed methods to support them. The programme has five federations selected according to specific criteria. This programme is open to all federations, but the athlete or the union must reach a certain level to be included in this programme," he added.
"Our cooperation with the International Olympic Committee and the rest of the world's committees is very effective" he said, adding that an agreement was recently signed between the Qatar Olympic Committee and the International Olympic Committee, which will be announced in Lima soon. The agreement concerns refugees in an initiative to support the refugee athletes who have been displaced from their countries.
