The country is likely to witness scattered rain of varying intensity at intermittent intervals from Friday evening until Tuesday that may turn into thundery at times, the Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) has said.

In a statement, the QMD said, “Weather charts indicate a gradual increase in the amount of clouds from Friday and the weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy with a chance of scattered rain of varying intensity at intermittent intervals from Friday evening until Tuesday that may turn into thundery at times.”

It said the wind will be Southeasterly-Southwesterly, with speeds ranging between 14-24 KT daytime, with gusts exceeding 30 KT over some areas at times causing blowing dust and reducing horizontal visibility to less than 3 KM at times.

“Winds are expected to shift to Northwesterly at the beginning of Monday and will continue for several days until the end of next week, at moderate to fresh speed reaching strong daytime on Tuesday and Wednesday,” the QMD added.

It said the marine condition is not suitable for all marine activities, as the wave height is expected to exceed 10 FT during the period of weather fluctuations.
The Northwesterly winds are also accompanied by a noticeable decrease in temperatures with a greater feeling of coldness, especially during the night and early morning hours, where maximum temperatures are expected to range between 16-22° C and minimums between 8-15° C and even cooler in the southern and exterior areas.
It's worth noting that this period coincides with the entry of the (Shabbat Season), which is considered the coldest winter season locally, and it starts from mid-January and lasts about 26 days. The Qatar Meteorological Department urges all to be careful and avoid all marine activities during this period.
