Qatar is interested in cooperation with Russia in the defence sector, especially in modern Russian technologies, Minister of State for Defence Affairs HE Dr Khalid bin Mohammed al Attiyah has said.
Attiyah said Doha would like to purchase Russian technologies for production of air defence systems.
"As far as our mutual cooperation is concerned, this is not just the purchase of air defence systems but also technologies. We would like to develop this industry and bring this technology to Qatar," Attiyah was quoted as saying by Sputnik during a meeting with Russian Defence Minister Sergey Shoygu in Moscow.
During the meeting, the two sides praised the distinguished relationship between the two countries.
Attiyah and Shoygu also discussed the latest developments in the Middle East and other issues of mutual interest, according to Qatar News Agency.
Russian-Qatari relations are seeing significant developments in the fields of economy, investment and culture, as well as military technical cooperation.
