The trade volume between Qatar and Morocco, which stood at $70 million in 2015, has the potential to grow more, Qatar Chamber Vice Chairman Mohammed bin Ahmed bin Towar al Kuwari said in Doha on Sunday.
Exhorting the business communities in both the countries to further enhance bilateral trade, Towar said the highlight of the strong relations between Qatar and Morocco is their determination to pursue further economic cooperation.
The joint ventures between the two sides in plastic products, aluminium, foodstuffs and furniture are proof of this, he said while addressing Qatari businessmen and a delegation of the Moroccan Investors' Club at the Qatar Chamber.
The meeting between the two sides aims to create partnerships between the two sides and enhance trade and investment relations.
Towar expressed hope that the meeting would contribute to further enhancing trade and investment between businessmen in the two countries.
Mutual official visits, regular meetings of Qatari-Moroccan joint committee and the cooperation agreements between them are the strongest evidence of the depth of the ties between the two countries in various areas, including cooperation between their private sectors, he said.
"Qatari businessmen are keen to invest more in the promising Moroccan market, which is rich in natural resources and has an environment conducive for investments."
Towar said Qatar Chamber would spare no effort to promote Qatari investments in Morocco, would support all efforts to that end, and was ready to provide any data needed by Moroccan employers in general and the Club of Moroccan Investors in particular.
He called on businessmen in both the countries to take advantage of the opportunity to achieve more systematic cooperation between the private sectors in the two countries.
Rami Bouchaib, the president of the Moroccan Investors' Club, called on Qatari businessmen to invest in his country, which he said was interested in building strong economic and trade relations with Qatar.
He said Morocco was open for business and has several opportunities for Qatari businessmen to invest in various economic sectors, especially banking, tourism and agriculture.
