Frankfurt: Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry and West Ham defender Thilo Kehrer will be in Germany’s starting line-up for the friendly match against Belgium on Tuesday. Coach Hansi Flick told a news conference on Monday that they will replace midfielder Kai Havertz, who is sick, and injured defender Nico Schlotterbeck. “We will make little changes,” Flick said. Flick believes Belgium have a “different calibre” than Peru, which they defeated on Saturday.

“In terms of football, they are one of the best teams,” he said about Tuesday’s opponents. Ahead of the game, Flick is taking Saturday’s Bundesliga table-topper between Bayern and leaders Borussia Dortmund into account when choosing who will play, but only to a limited extent. “We take it into consideration when it ultimately comes to sparing players from injuries,” he said. Following the departure of Schlotterbeck due to his injury, Emre Can and Marius Wolf are the two Dortmund players in the squad, while Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka and Gnabry are representing Bayern. “This is not a problem for the players, it’s nothing new. We’ll be concerned once a player shows signs he is exhausted or at his limit,” Flick stressed. (dpa)
