Munich: A major Germany-based truck and trailer parts manufacturer, SAF Holland, said on Monday that it had been hit by a cyberattack that caused some of its productions lines to shut down. The announcement led to a temporary fall in the share price of the company, which is listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange’s SDAX index and had a turnover $1.34 billion in 2021. SAF Holland said its systems had been isolated from the internet while tests were carried out. It estimated that production on certain lines could be halted for between a week and a fortnight.

Management predicted that production losses could be made good over the coming three months. Other German companies hit by cyberattacks in recent months include copper producer Aurubis, automotive sector supplier Continental and T-Mobile US, the US subsidiary of Germany’s Deutsche Telekom. (DPA)
