University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) has joined the CFA Institute University Affiliation Programme.

Both the Bachelor of Business Administration in Banking and FinTech and Bachelor of Business Administration in Applied Accounting have been acknowledged as incorporating at least 70 percent of the CFA Programme Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) and placing emphasis on the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct within the program.

These programmes position students well to obtain the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter, which has become the most respected and recognized investment credential in the world.

Entry into the CFA Institute University Affiliation Programme signals to potential students, employers, and the marketplace that UDST's curriculum is closely tied to professional practice and is well-suited to preparing students to sit for the CFA examinations. Through participation in this program, UDST is eligible to receive a limited number of CFA Program Student Scholarships each year.

The Bachelor of Business Administration in Banking and Financial Technology at UDST introduces students to the fundamentals of the Banking and FinTech industries, including the information technology areas critical to both. Students engage in hands-on practice in the application of Banking and FinTech concepts and strategies along with general business principles and practice. Whereas the Bachelor of Business Administration in Applied Accounting, focuses on developing a strong foundation for students in technical accounting and business competencies, as well as on developing the soft skills necessary to succeed in the field of accounting.

UDST President Dr Salem Al Naemi said, “We are pleased with this affiliation that acknowledges UDST's curriculum as closely tied to the professional practice and well-suited to preparing students to sit for the CFA examinations. The University focuses on applied and experiential learning in simulated workplaces and aims to graduate students who stand out from their peers in their ability to innovate, lead and solve challenges.”

UDST has inaugurated last year on its premises an educational Banking and FinTech Trading Room, which is considered a first in the region. This new addition to the University's state-of-the-art educational facilities was meant to facilitate applied and experiential learning for students enrolled in the College of Business Management programmes.
