The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change celebratedEarth Hour by turning off the lights in the ministry’s main building in the Corniche (Al Udeid Tower) and all the buildings affiliated to the ministry from 8:30 pm until 9:30 pm. The celebration aims to encourage individuals and institutions to rationalize consumption of electricity in addition to preserving the environment and spreading awareness of the importance of protecting the earth.On this occasion, Sheikh Dr Saud bin Khalifa Al Thani, Director of the Department of Green Development and Environmental Sustainability, stressed the ministry’s keenness to participate in the celebration of Earth Hour, which falls on the last Saturday of March of each year. The Earth Hour is marked to remind individuals and the local community of their responsibilities to protect Earth from pollution, by encouraging them to turn off unnecessary lights and electrical and electronic devices for one hour.
