Assistant Foreign Minister HE Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater has stressed the need to continue talks to reach practical solutions to develop the education and health sectors in Afghanistan, affirming the keenness and commitment of Qatar to support the people of Afghanistan and help them overcome the difficulties.

Khater was speaking at the talks held in Doha on the future of education in Afghanistan and the challenges and obstacles facing it, with CEO of Education Above All Foundation Fahad Al Sulaiti representing Qatar.

A delegation from the Afghan Ministry of Education headed by Education Minister Mawlawi Sayyid Habeeb, a delegation of UNICEF headed by UNICEF Regional Director for South Asia George Laria and Chief of Strategic Partnerships at Education Cannot Wait Organization Nasser Fakih also participated in the talks.

Khater commended the efforts of the Education Above All Foundation to facilitate the talks. She also extended appreciation to the delegations of the Afghan Ministry of Education, UNICEF and the Education Cannot Wait organization for their participation in the talks.

During the talks, the participants discussed the economic challenges, poor infrastructure, limited human resources and qualifications in Afghanistan, in addition to ensuring equal access to education for all, especially girls.

The participants also agreed on the need to ensure the right to education for all, develop a common vision that deals with challenges and provide high-quality education opportunities for all Afghan students in all regions.

The delegation of the Afghan Ministry of Education praised the efforts of Qatar in organising that event that would come up with solutions to help the Afghan people improve the quality of education and ensure its access to male and female students in all regions of Afghanistan.

For their part, the delegations of UNICEF and Education Cannot Wait appreciated the efforts of Qatar and the Education Above All Foundation in facilitating the talks and thanked to the delegation of the Afghan Ministry of Education for their keenness to participate in the talks.
