Secretary-General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) Hassan Al Thawadi has said that 96 percent of visitors and fans of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 would like to visit Qatar a second time.
Al Thawadi noted that the World Cup broke the region's stereotype and that Qatar showed good hospitality to the fans.
Al Thawadi was speaking at a panel discussion in the Global Security Forum taking place in Doha and said that they conducted a survey that showed that 96 percent of the fans would like to visit Qatar another time.
He noted that the celebrating the organisation of the World Cup for the first time in an Arab country and its accompanying cultural events helped present a wonderful image of the region, pointing out that some fans see that the celebration of this tournament is more like a celebration of the countries of the south than anything else.
He stressed that the distinguished organisation of the championship showed the ability of Qatar to host a world-class event without any fears and in safety and peace, as the fans came and celebrated their cultures and felt comfortable, pointing out that sporting events and meetings bring people together and enhance the power of audience participation and therefore are a source of change.
He added that the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will have great, long-term impact. He noted that sports is a platform that offers peoples a chance to coexist.
Al Thawadi praised the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 organising team, describing the team as professional, passionate, and dedicated to presenting the best World Cup edition.
He added that they gained a unique experience in hosting major events, something that will prove beneficial in the future.
He also noted that they can share their expertise with the US, Canada, and Mexico, who will host the 2026 edition, highlighting that there is a wealth of expertise that can be built upon as the country looks to host Asian Cup 2024 ad other event. He added that there is a great team that works on determining the events.
