Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation (QTSBF) on Monday signed an agreement with QNB, one of the largest financial institutions in the Middle East and Africa, naming the prestigious bank the Gold Sponsor of its award-winning tournaments, the Qatar TotalEnergies Open 2023 and the Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2023.

The main round of the six-day WTA 500 event, Qatar TotalEnergies Open began on Monday. The tournament will be followed by the Qatar ExxonMobil Open from February 20 to 25.

Now in its 21st edition, the Qatar TotalEnergies Open 2023 is featuring nine of the world’s top-10 players who will be showcasing the best of tennis action to the delight of fans at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, Qatar’s home of tennis, while the 31st edition of the renowned Qatar ExxonMobil Open is also featuring several world-class players, including Grand Slam winners and past champions, who will strut their stuff at the same venue.

The solid relationship between QTSBF and QNB dates back several years, and the two dynamic organisations have been consistent partners in progress in the development of sports in Qatar, ensuring that the flag of the country continues to fly high in global sports.

QTSBF Secretary-General Tariq Zainal said, “We are delighted to announce QNB as the Gold Sponsor of our two globally recognized tournaments, the Qatar TotalEnergies Open 2023 and the Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2023. QNB is highly recognised not just in Qatar but worldwide for its role in supporting and developing sports. We believe that the strategic partnership with the bank will not only add great value to our tournaments but also help consolidate our efforts at further developing tennis in Qatar and the entire region.”

Commenting on the partnership, QNB’s Group Corporate and Institutional Banking Senior Executive Vice-President Khaled Al Sada, said: “We are thrilled to be associated with Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation for two of their premier tournaments. The Qatar TotalEnergies Open 2023 and the Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2023 are top tournaments on the world tennis calendar every year. We look forward to greater cooperation in the future also.”

The Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2022 was recently voted the ‘Best Tournament’ on the ATP Tour in the 250- point category, making it the fifth time and a second successive year (2015, 2017, 2019, 2021, and 2022) that Doha will be clinching the prestigious award, which is voted by ATP players in recognition of the leading standards set across events on the ATP Tour.

The Qatar Total Energies Open, on the other hand, has been consistently ranked as one of the best tournaments in its category on the WTA Tour, attracting a number of the world’s best players each year.
