Doha will host the Global Youth Interfaith and Intercultural Forum Qatar 2023 from February 11 to 14. The forum is being organised by Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID) and A Common Word Among the Youth (ACWAY) under the slogan ‘Youth and Peace Building: Interfaith from Theory to Application’.

More than 60 young men and women from 42 countries, in addition to 20 male and female participants from Qatar, will attend the forum, which will be held at the headquarters of the Qatar Scouts and Girl Guides Association.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID) Dr Ibrahim Saleh Al Nuaimi said that Doha’s hosting of this youth forum reflects Qatar’s belief in the capabilities of youth, and their decisive role in shaping tomorrow. For this reason the centre is always keen to involve them in all its activities, so that the culture of dialogue prevails among the new generation, he said.

He added that Qatar has always been proactive in its initiatives in the field of dialogue and cultural and civilizational communication, which has earned it a prestigious global position. He indicated that the objective of the forum, which includes various lectures, training courses and workshops, is to highlight the pivotal role of youth in stimulating coexistence, religious and cultural dialogue, and confronting extremism and intolerance.

He explained that the event represents an extension for the goals and vision of DICID with regard to the importance of involving young people in all international events and activities related to interfaith dialogue, pointing out that the centre decided that this forum should be entirely composed of young people to listen to their opinions and discussions.

He also referred to the growing interest in youth issues at the global level, which prompted the centre to organize such an international event, pointing out that this forum represents a platform to listen to the points of view of young people in which they should have an active role, such as the issue of climate.

Dr. Ibrahim Saleh Al Nuaimi concluded his statement stressing that youth are the opportunity and hope to restore and spread the correct religious and human values, make it a focus for building a tolerant and coexistent world, and confronting extremism, terrorism and hatred.
