World Cup triumphant Lionel Messi hailed the Lusail Iconic Stadium where the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 finale was played for the first time in the Middle East and Arab region.

Speaking to the Argentine Urbana Play radio station, the 35-year-old said that he saw the cup sparkling in a beautiful stadium and calling out to him to lift it.

The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner lifted his first-ever World Cup trophy after a 4-2 penalty shootout victory over holders France, following a thrilling 3-3 draw.

Messi said the trophy came following a streak of trophyless campaigns, most notably their 0-1 loss to Germany in the finale of 2014 edition in Brazil.
