An estimated 5 billion people from all over the world watched FIFA World Cup 2022 matches remotely, catching on their screens the tantalizing glimpses of the host country. And the sights are likely to inspire at least 40 million people to visit

Qatar, according to ValuStrat.

FIFA estimated a cumulative attendance of 3.4 million spectators, including 1.2 million international visitors, equalling 96 percent total occupancy for the tournament.

The success of the tournament is expected to attract millions of people who watched the matches remotely to see Qatar in person, the ValuStrat report said.

The year 2022 saw the performance of all sectors in Qatar excel as the FIFA World Cup in 2022 positively impacted demand, it added.

“The real estate market of Qatar saw a gainful year despite a global slowdown,” the report said.

By the end of 2023, the report said, the population of Qatar is expected to reach 2.8 million.

“Assuming all projects are delivered on time, Qatar will comprise approximately 40,000 hotel keys, 330,000 residential units, and an office supply of 6.5 million sq m GLA,” it said.
