Tribune News NetworkDohaThe Ministry of Public Health on Wednesday published a public awareness infographic on long-COVID and its common symptoms. Long-COVID, also referred to as post-COVID-19 syndrome, is a term used to describe COVID-19 symptoms that continue to affect people for many weeks or months after contracting the virus, the ministry said in the infographic,The common symptoms of Long-COVID includes:- Extreme tiredness- Shortness of breath- Joint pain- Depression and anxiety- Chest pain or tightness- InsomniaWho is at risk? The ministry added that though most people recover quickly from COVID-19, anyone can experience the ongoing symptoms of Long-COVID. Due to their increased vulnerability and often weakened immune systems, the elderly are more susceptible to long-term complications due to COVID-19.What can be done to prevent Long-COVID? The best form of prevention is to follow all steps to reduce the risk of contracting COVID-19: wear a mask, maintain physical distance, avoid large gatherings, and regular hand washing.It is also important that people who experience signs and symptoms of COVID-19 do not delay seeking help. The sooner medical teams can begin treating the symptoms, the higher the chance of avoiding complications.
