Kiev: The Ukrainian government was hit with a wave of resignations sparked by corruption allegations and more will come, authorities in Kiev said on Tuesday.

The heads of the Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya, Kiev, Sumy and Kherson will be sacked, a government official said on the Telegram news service.

The deputy head of Ukraine’s presidential office, Kyrylo Tymoshenko, resigned on Monday and on Tuesday the country’s Deputy Defence Minister Vyacheslav Shapovalov followed suit - both on allegations of corruption.

The former governor of Kyiv province, Oleksiy Kuleba, is being discussed as Tymoshenko’s replacement, the government announced on Telegram.

President Volodymyr Zelensky has vowed to get to the bottom of the alleged corruption. (dpa)
