Qatar Fuel Company (Woqod) has extended until mid-2017 its exchange offer for replacing the metal LPG cylinders with light-weight Shafaf cylinders.
In a statement, Woqod said the offer allows customers to exchange a metal cylinder with a Shafaf for QR265 instead of QR365.
"Customers can exchange their metal cylinders with Shafaf at any Woqod service stations or other points of sale. Woqod works to continuously collect the old metal cylinders from these points of sale and provide them with Shafaf cylinders," it added.
Referring to the claims that have been raised by some residents in newspapers recently on the unavailability of Shafaf gas cylinders and expiry of the exchange offer, Woqod acknowledged that 'fog has led to the reduction of distribution, due to the danger of transferring flammable materials in conditions where visibility is very difficult.'
"Woqod worked hard to find the best solution and managed to provide the market with a decrease of only 2 percent compared to the same period in December. It is worth mentioning that Woqod adhered to its strict safety standards to avoid any risks in distributing gas cylinders in bad weather conditions," it added.
Woqod is currently re-evaluating the numbers of gas cylinders that required to be distributed across Qatar to meet the country's increasing demands.
"Woqod always responds to the consumers' concerns and will continue its efforts to overcome any obstacles to meet the requirements of the people," it said.
"Woqod would like to reiterate its commitment to the community and meet all demands of residents in Qatar with quality, safety and quick service," the statement said.
