Katara Publishing House released on Wednesday 22 books, including 10 books in English, as part of the activities of the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The topics of the books revolve around the most important events during the World Cup tournaments since the first edition in 1930, the march of the Arabs and the Qatari football stars, and the growth of well-known sports commentator Youssef Saif. The books also include various figures, statistics and events related to World Cup tournaments.

Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti, General Manager of Katara, said that Katara Publishing House produces large number of publications annually, and that the newly released books deal with topics that are in line with the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. He explained that the books that have been translated into English will be distributed in the VIP seating areas of the World Cup stadiums, and will also be made available at Katara Publishing House.

The book authored by Dr Khaled Al-Jaber deals with the growth of Qatar as a soft power in the Middle East through the hosting of World Cup 2022. The book, titled ‘Football Stars in Qatar’, written by Dr Maryam Al-Nuaimi explains the march of 27 players who became the first major footballing force in the country. ‘Sports Engineering in World Cup 2022’, written by Eng Khaled Abdul Rahim Al-Sayed, explains Qatar’s stadiums and other facilities for the World Cup, and how they ensured sustainability.
