Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani chaired the Cabinet's regular meeting held on Wednesday morning at its seat at the Amiri Diwan.

Following the meeting, HE Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs issued the following statement: At the outset of the meeting, the Cabinet applauded the outstanding and exceptional success of the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 on Sunday, which was patronized by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, and attended by a number of Their Majesties, Highnesses and Excellencies leaders of state and heads of delegations of sisterly and friendly countries.

The Cabinet highlighted the important contents of HH the Amir's speech when opening the tournament, and the dazzling preparation, organization and directing of the historic opening ceremony; hailing the ceremony's performances which carried messages of deep meanings, reflected the bright images of the civilizational and cultural heritage of the State of Qatar and the Arab world, and emphasized the human dimension of sport and its influential role in uniting people and spreading a culture of peace, tolerance, mutual respect and acquaintance among nations.

The Cabinet expressed on this historic occasion its pride in the wise policy and directives of HH the Amir, thanks to which the State of Qatar was able to accomplish successive achievements; adding that the successful and distinct hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 which dazzled the world, adds a new and unique chapter in the record of achievements that strengthened the State's position and its active role for the establishment of world peace and consolidation of the principles of understanding and solidarity between countries and peoples.

The Cabinet affirmed that the success of the World Cup opening ceremony, the wide acclaim and follow-up it received from around the world, and the success achieved by the tournament at all levels will remain a source of pride for the State of Qatar and its people and youth who were behind this achievement with their efforts, thoughts, and hard and continuous work over 12 years in order to create an environment conducive to organizing the tournament and achieving the World Cup in all organizational, urban, social and economic aspects, leading to an exceptional World Cup tournament that honors the Arab nation.

Then, the Cabinet considered the topics on the agenda as follows:

The Cabinet approved a draft decree approving the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) agreement for Al Wakra and Al Wukair Sewage Treatment Works project. This project was proposed in partnership between the public and private sectors.

The Cabinet also approved a draft decision by the Minister of Communications and Information Technology to specify the correspondence system service fees for the semi-governmental and private sectors.

The Cabinet approved the renewal of the membership of the chairman and members of the Grievance Committee of the Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA).

The Grievance Committee at QFMA, which is headed by a chairman, who is a chief of the Court of Appeals, along with two Court of Appeals judges as well as two others having experience in the securities field as its members, is competent to decide on the grievances concerning the penal decisions issued by the QFMA.

The Cabinet also took the necessary measures to ratify a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the fields of youth and sports between the governments of the State of Qatar and the Eastern Republic of Uruguay.

The Cabinet then reviewed the following topics and took the appropriate decisions:

1- Draft Amiri decisions to reorganize some public bodies, institutions and government agencies.

2- The outcomes of the 8th Meeting of Their Excellencies Ministers responsible of Islamic affairs and endowments in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

3- A report on the meetings of the opening week of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly.
