THE Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) proffers purpose-built solutions to improve patient's experience and realise better health outcomes for Qatar's population, said PHCC Managing Director Dr Mariam Abdulmalik.
"We are confident that all these initiatives will go a long way to further enable PHCC to effectively and efficiently deliver primary care services to everyone across the country. Healthy citizens play an important part in the growth and development of a country and accessible community-based care serves as a foundation for positive health and wellbeing," she said.
Dr Mariam added the PHCC family doctors are committed to offering coordinated primary care services across the continuum of acute and chronic care, preventative medicine and health promotion services through the provision of family medicine. ~
Family medicine services focus on patient diagnosis and management, health promotion and disease prevention, in addition to the provision of continuous care and long-term support to patients and their families.
The PHCC provides the family medicine services within global principles such as the family doctor working in a multidisciplinary team at the health centre who collectively takes responsibility for the ongoing care of patients and the doctor is responsible for providing for all the patient's health care needs, including preventive screening, treatment and mental health and wellbeing assessments.
The principle also includes coordinated care across all elements of the healthcare system and the patient's community. Care is facilitated by registries, information technology and other means to assure that patients get the required care and enhanced access to care is available through systems such as open scheduling, expanded hours and new options for communication between patients, family doctors and staff.
Dr Hanan al Mujalli, executive director of Clinical Affairs at PHCC, highlighted the value of family medicine to the community.
"Family doctors offer support to patients and their families to access a full range of services to meet their health needs. In providing this dedicated support, a strong and trusted relationship is built between the doctor and patient, which prevents from having to repeat themselves and allows them to make informed choices to meet their health and well-being needs."
The PHCC offers comprehensive information and appointment services via its Hayyak Customer Service on '107' for people to book appointments.
