Brazil proved too strong for India, cruising to a 4-0 victory in an international friendly at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan on Saturday.

Estevao and Pedro struck in the first half before Samuel Lino added a brace after the break as Brazil emerged comfortable winners in the first-ever meeting between the two nations.

India, who had drawn 1-1 with Panama in their previous outing, made an encouraging start and threatened in the seventh minute when Lalengmawia Ralte fired narrowly wide from outside the box following a corner.

Brazil, however, quickly began to impose themselves with the breakthrough coming in the 28th minute when Matheuzinho picked out Estevao, who cut in from the right before steering his effort into the top corner.

Brazil doubled their advantage three minutes before the break, with Estevao turning provider as his through ball released Pedro, who made no mistake with a right-footed finish.

Both sides made several changes at half-time but Brazil continued to dictate proceedings and stretched their advantage in the 58th minute with Pedro supplying the layoff for substitute Lino, who calmly found the bottom right corner for his first international goal.

India head coach Khalid Jamil turned to his bench in search of a response but the Blue Tigers fell further behind in the fifth minute of stoppage time with Lino finding the net as Brazil comfortably saw out the victory.
