moscow: Russia is expelling Hungarian diplomats in retaliation for Budapest’s removal of 10 Russian diplomats nearly a month ago, the Foreign Ministry in Moscow said on Thursday.
A group of Hungarian diplomats from the embassy in Moscow and the consulates general in St Petersburg and Kazan have been ordered to leave Russia within two weeks, the ministry said.
It did not specify how many diplomats were affected, although such retaliatory expulsions typically involve the same number of officials. Russian diplomats in Europe have repeatedly faced accusations of also working for Moscow’s intelligence services. (DPA)
