Qatar and North Macedonia have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening cooperation in the labour sector focusing on sharing expertise to develop labour markets and improve working environments in both countries.
The MoU was signed on behalf of Qatar by Minister of Labour HE Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri, while North Macedonia was represented by Minister of Economy and Labour Besar Durmishi.
The agreement seeks to deepen cooperation between the two sides across a range of labour-related areas, while supporting efforts to develop labour legislation and strengthen labour market regulation. It also aims to promote a better working environment and improve productivity in the private sector.
The two sides will cooperate through joint initiatives, including the exchange of expertise, studies and visits in the areas of labour relations, labour inspection, and occupational safety and health. This will include preventive measures designed to ensure safe and healthy working conditions.
Cooperation will also extend to the exchange of views and expertise on the development of labour-related legislation. In addition, the two sides may agree in writing to expand cooperation into other areas falling within their respective areas of competence.
To facilitate the implementation of the MoU, a joint committee will be established, comprising an equal number of representatives from both sides. The committee will be responsible for coordinating and implementing areas of cooperation, as well as planning and evaluating future cooperation programmes.
It will also be tasked with interpreting the provisions of the MoU and addressing any difficulties that may arise in its implementation.
The MoU further provides for the two sides to establish specific cooperation programmes to carry out agreed activities and initiatives. These programmes will help strengthen the exchange of expertise and further support bilateral cooperation in the labour sector.
