The Board of Directors of the West Asian Volleyball Federation held its third meeting at the Jumeirah Hotel in Kuwait on Thursday on the sidelines of the ongoing GCC Games.
The meeting was chaired by the President of Qatar and West Asian Volleyball Federations Ali bin Ghanem Al Kuwari in the presence of President of the Kuwait Volleyball Federation and treasurer of the West Asian Federation Dr. Abdul Hadi Al Shabib, the Omani Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the West Asian Federation Ibrahim Al Muqbali and Jordan’s Jihad Qteishat, the Secretary-General of Qatar West Asian Federation Muhammad Al Kuwari, Assistant Treasurer of the Qatar Federation Youssef Kanoo, Head of the Competitions Committee of the Iraqi Federation Jamil Al Abadi, Lebanon’s Walid Al Qasouf, Head of Omani Beach Volleyball Committee HE Bint Saeed Al Azriya, Chairperson of the Women’s Committee and President of the Syrian Federation Brigadier Muhannad Suleiman, Secretary-General of Syrian Federation Mufid Elias, and President of the Palestinian Volleyball Federation Hamza Radi.
Chairman Ali bin Ghanem Al Kuwari, welcomed the members. He thanked Dr. Abdul Hadi Al Shabib for hosting the meeting, wishing everyone success. Dr. Abdulhadi wished the members a pleasant stay in Kuwait, stressing that the Kuwaiti political leadership attaches great importance to sports affairs and places it among its priorities.
After the meeting, Ali Al Kuwari revealed in a press statement that Sheikha Naima Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah was unanimously chosen as honorary chairperson of the Women’s Committee of the West Asian Volleyball Federation.
Al Kuwari said, “During the meeting, the federation’s championship calendar for the period from 2022-2024 was approved, as well as the regulations for the volleyball competitions, “futsal and beach”, and two West Asian championships for youth teams in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the West Asian Championship for women’s teams in Jordan were approved. From November 10 to 25, the arbitration committees for the two tournaments also approved next meeting in the Sultanate of Oman.”
