Prague: Tens of thousands of war refugees from Ukraine are helping to fill long-vacant jobs in the Czech Republic’s manufacturing, construction, transport and service sectors, labour data released Thursday showed. Since the Russian invasion began in late February, more than 348,000 Ukrainians have found refuge in the Czech Republic and received residence permits. It is estimated that more than a third of them have since returned home or moved on to other countries. But among those who have stayed, more than 50,000 have found jobs in industries in need of workers, data from Czech employment offices showed. As a rule, according to the offices, these are jobs that have been in need of filling for a long time. (dpa)
