Seoul: North Korea has launched at least three ballistic missiles in the direction of the Sea of Japan, the South Korean military reported on Thursday.
The report did not state how far they had travelled over the sea, also known as the East Sea.
UN resolutions prohibit the launching by North Korea of ballistic missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads as part of strict sanctions imposed in response to the country’s nuclear weapons programme. The latest launch is one of a series of tests since the beginning of the year, one of them involving an intercontinental missile. According to the South Korean authorities, on Saturday, North Korea tested a missile launched from a submarine. (dpa)
