A week-long festival of achievement, shared experiences and fun is to be hosted by Qatar Foundation (QF) to celebrate its students and the power of education – and the whole community of Qatar is invited to join in.
Aljam’a, which will take place at Education City from May 8 to 12, is a new event designed to amplify the excitement and joy of graduation season, and bring QF’s Class of 2022 graduates together with its alumni from previous years and current students to network, interact, swap stories and be part of a collective celebration of human potential being realized.
The Aljam’a activities at Multaqa (Education City Student Center) will also be open for the public to enjoy, and include a range of carnival games and challenges, a bowling tournament, and a Goal Wall, while graduation ceremonies from QF partner universities will be screened live during the week.
Students will be able to contribute to a unique piece of art by decorating a 2022 Student Art Structure in their university colors, as well as securing some unforgettable images of a special time in their lives at the Aljam’a photobooth.
Meanwhile, a majlis area at Multaqa will host informal, interactive talks from 2022 graduates and QF alumni about their Education City experience and their hopes for the future.
During Aljam’a, which has been developed with the input of QF students and will run from 3pm to 7pm each day, visitors will have the chance to visit Torba Market and an array of booths showcasing businesses established by QF alumni.
Meanwhile, this year’s QF Convocation – the first to be held in physical form for three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic – will be held on Tuesday, May 10, as it collectively celebrates the Classes of 2020, 2021, and 2022 of QF member Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) and QF’s partner universities.
The occasion – one of the milestones in QF’s calendar – is being held at Al Shaqab, marking the moment when QF’s latest batch of graduates move from one stage of their journey to the next.
The Class of 2022 will add their names to the growing ranks of QF alumni, which now total more than 7,000.
Within QF’s globally unique ecosystem of learning, every year Education City sees the graduation of new doctors, engineers, artists, diplomats, communications professionals, scientists and researchers, innovators and entrepreneurs, and experts in fields including Islamic studies, law, public policy, and business – all equipped to be change-makers within Qatar, across the region, and beyond.Week of Education City activities amplifies the excitement of graduation and new beginnings
