The first phase of ticket sales for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which will be held at the end of this year, kicked off on Wednesday.
Various sets of tickets are available with the aim of attracting football fans from the region and the world to enjoy the matches of the upcoming tournament.
The first phase began at 1:00 pm, Doha time, and it will end on February 8 at 1:00 pm, during which fans will have the opportunity to submit their requests to book tickets through the website: qatar2022.qa/tickets.
All applicants will have an equal opportunity to purchase tickets, whether on the first day, the last day or any time in between, as the ticket allocation process begins after the application period ends.
If requests exceed the available numbers of match tickets for fans from inside or outside Qatar, the tickets will be allocated to the applicants using the lottery system, and then all those eligible for obtaining their requests, in full or in part, as well as those who are not eligible to purchase tickets, will be notified of the results of their requests by Tuesday, March 8. They will be provided details of the next steps informing them of the last date for paying the value of the tickets allocated to them.
In light of the rules followed by FIFA in the sale of tickets for the previous editions of the World Cup in the years 2010, 2014 and 2018, the residents of the host country benefit from special prices for tickets for the fourth category, which starts from QR 40 for the matches of the next edition of the FIFA World Cup.
In a statement, CEO of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Nasser Al Khater stressed that Qatar’s hosting of the first edition of the tournament in the Middle East and the Arab world constitutes an exceptional event that celebrates the passion of the peoples of the region and the world. He pointed out that the country, along with the championship partners, looks forward to welcoming the fans in a celebration that attracts the attention of the world.
Al Khater said that everyone is looking forward to the launch of the FIFA World Cup, welcoming the fans in Qatar to a global football celebration, giving everyone the opportunity to express their passion for football, discovering a new culture and enjoying experiences in Qatar and the region for the first time.
Fans from inside Qatar can pay for match tickets exclusively using Visa cards, while Visa cards and others can be used to pay for tickets for fans from outside Qatar. Visa cards are the preferred method of payment for the purchase of fan tickets for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
It is expected that there will be a second opportunity to purchase tickets for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 before the World Cup draw scheduled for Friday, April 1, according to a first-come-first-served system.
More information about this stage of sales will be available at a later time.
More stages of the sale of match tickets will be announced after the date of the tournament draw, and it will include additional groups, including tickets for fans of a specific team, allowing the match to be attended by the fans of the same team, and others for fans wishing to reserve a seat in one of the possible matches for their favorite team.
During the group stage, fans will have the opportunity to attend more than one match in one day, thanks to the close distances between the eight stadiums that will host the tournament.
Fans will be able to apply for tickets for more than one match in one day during the ticket sales phase following the lottery.
Based on the keenness of Qatar and FIFA to provide the best possible experience, it was decided to ease the conditions related to buying tickets that were witnessed in previous versions of the World Cup, as one fan will be able to purchase up to 60 tickets throughout the tournament, with a maximum of six tickets per match.
Fans of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will be required to show the Hay’ya Card (Fan ID) which is a mandatory identification card for fans to enter Qatar. It entitles its holder to enter the stadiums upon presentation of the match ticket, and also allows fans to use public transportation for free on match days, in addition to enjoying a package of benefits and services that will enrich the experience of the tournament fans.
