Islamabad The Taliban’s governor of Panjshir province has survived an explosion in the capital Kabul, a senior official told dpa on Saturday. A roadside bomb was detonated by the convoy of Panjshir Governor Mawlawi Qudratullah in the Taimani area in police district four, Panjshir deputy police chief Abdul Hameed Khurasani said. However, Khurasani claimed that neither the governor nor any of his bodyguards were harmed in the blast. Interior ministry spokesperson Qari Saeed Khosty confirmed the blast, without giving any details. The site of the blast was cordoned off following the explosion, a shopkeeper in the area said.Social media footages show a plume of smoke in the area and an apparent spark in electricity lines. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack but Islamic State has credited itself for similar attacks. (Agencies)
