Qatar and Oman have pledged to take bilateral relations to new heights with the signing of a slew of agreements.
This came as His Highness the Amir of State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and HM Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of the Sultanate of Oman held official talks at the Amiri Diwan on Monday.
At the outset of the meeting, HH the Amir welcomed HM the Sultan and the accompanying delegation, wishing His Majesty a good stay and for bilateral ties further growth and development in all fields, expressing hope that the visit can contribute to strengthening bilateral ties to realize the ambitions and interests of the two peoples.
For his part, His Majesty expressed his thanks to HH the Amir for the good reception and generous hospitality.
His Majesty added that he looks forward to enhancing cooperation ties to realize joint aspirations and advance the interests of the two countries and peoples.
The talks reviewed bilateral relations and the means to enhance them, particularly in the political, economic, investment, tourism, and transport fields.
The talks also exchanged views on enhancing joint GCC work to enhance the region’s stability and security.
The meeting was attended by HH Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani, HH Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Personal Representative of HH the Amir, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, and a number of ministers.
On the Omani side, it was attended by HH Deputy Prime Minister for Defense Affairs Shihab bin Tarek Al Said, and members of the official accompanying delegation.
Later, HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and HM Sultan Haitham bin Tariq witnessed the signing of a number of agreements between the two countries at the Amiri Diwan.
HH the Amir and HM the Sultan witnessed the signing of an agreement on military cooperation that aims to enhance bilateral military cooperation, and agreement on avoiding double taxation and evasion of income taxes and capital levies, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of labor and human resources, an agreement in the investment field between Qatar Investment Authority and Oman Investment Authority, a cooperation agreement in the field of tourism and hospitality, an agreement in the field of maritime transport and ports.
