The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has commenced the development of an overarching strategy and associated legislation for governing autonomous vehicles in Qatar.
In a statement on Thursday, the MoT said this step is reinforcing the ministry’s vision in leveraging emerging technologies in line with best world practices and further improving mobility and transportation services in the country with environmentally sustainable form of transport.
It said the development of the strategy and legislation will take into account technical, legal, economic, social and environment considerations, resulting in a governance and regulatory framework along with a road map for implementation of autonomous vehicles in the country.
