The National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking held its fourth regular meeting on Thursday, presided over by Minister of Labour and Committee Chairman HE Dr Ali bin Saeed bin Samikh Al Marri.
The meeting addressed a number of proposals and projects aimed at improving protection and support for victims of human trafficking, supporting the role of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking, and improving coordination between it and the relevant state authorities.
It also discussed and made appropriate decisions on a number of topics and issues on the committee’s agenda, including a presentation of the latest developments in the procedures for developing the work mechanism between the official authorities (Ministry of Interior, Public Prosecution, Ministry of Labour), to monitor and follow up cases of human trafficking, and another presentation on the developments of the nursing home’s operation.
During the meeting, the latest developments in Qatar’s cooperation and coordination with the UN Human Rights Training and Documentation Centre for Southwest Asia and the Arab Region were reviewed, as well as the latest developments in the State of Qatar’s efforts to combat human trafficking by strengthening the rule of law. They also discussed a number of projects that would improve coordination with the competent authorities and concerned authorities to ensure the protection and support of victims of human trafficking and other related issues.
Representatives from the Labour, Interior, Foreign Affairs, Justice, and Public Health Ministries, as well as the Public Prosecution, Government Communications Office GCO, and the National Human Rights Committee, attended the meeting.
