Qatar Chamber (QC) Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani chaired the chamber’s delegation participating in the consultative meeting between the GCC Ministers of Commerce and Industry and the heads of the GCC unions and chambers on Tuesday in Manama, Bahrain.
The chamber’s delegation also included QC Board Member Mohamed Sultan Al Jaber and QC General Manager Saleh bin Hamad Al Sharqi.
The consultative meeting discussed a number of issues related to enhancing the GCC joint work in the trade and economic fields.
During the meeting, the Federation of GCC Chambers stressed the importance of providing all types of support to the private sector, whether direct and indirect, during the pandemic, especially that most of the private sector institutions are small and medium-sized enterprises that are the most affected sectors by the pandemic.
The federation also examined other topics such as food security, e-commerce, digital services, unification of customs procedures in all Gulf ports with the aim to streamline the flow of goods between all states, and the commercial concession law.
It also reviewed the treatment of free zone products in some GCC countries and draft rules of origin, as well as creating a unified definition of the national product, and reducing the types of non-tariff barriers and technical barriers to trade.
