The Transport Engineering Conference and Exhibition will be held from October 4 to 6, at the Ritz-Carlton–Doha, the Organising Committee announced at a press conference on Tuesday.
The conference is being organised by the Qatar Society of Engineers under the patronage of the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC).
The press conference was attended by Eng. Hamad Essa Abdulla, acting assistant undersecretary of Land Transport Affairs from MoTC, and Eng Khalid bin Ahmed Al Nasr, chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatar Society of Engineers. Also present were representatives of all the official sponsors of the conference.
Eng Nasr spoke about the completion of the preparation for the conference, which is being held for the first time in Qatar, stressing that the conference will come out in the best form in terms of organisational and scientific content, as well as the number of participations in the scientific papers and the accompanying exhibition.
He added that 25 scientific papers were accepted and approved to be presented over the three days, highlighting the new developments in of Qatar with regard to the land sector, such as roads, bridges and tunnels.
He said the papers will also outline achievements in the maritime sector, highlighting Hamad Port and the latest technologies in customs clearance and the storage of goods in ports, the air transport, types of aircraft and everything new in the field of aviation engineering.
On his part, Eng Abdulla thanked the Qatar Society of Engineers, headed by Eng Nasr, for the great efforts made in organising this pioneering event, stressing the importance of the engineering conference and exhibition.
He also stressed the keenness of the Ministry of Transport and Communications to support this type of specialised conference, as it constitutes an appropriate platform and provides an opportunity to exchange experiences and gain knowledge in the fields of transportation engineering and to benefit from the latest technologies and practices followed regionally and internationally.
He explained the ministry’s keenness on the participation of Qatari cadres and expertise in this important conference, where a group of Qatari cadres in the land transport affairs sector at the ministry will make four visual presentations on the sector’s most prominent works, including preparing strategic plans and initial designs for road networks, assessment programmes and road network surveys.
Eng. Hamad Issa Abdullah added that the ministry, in its various sectors, has an important role in the conference as a number of specialists will participate in the conference sessions and discussion panels to enrich the content of the conference.
He pointed out that the ministry will also display many products related to the work of the land transport sector within the exhibition accompanying the conference.
The press conference was also attended by representatives of the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) Q-terminals, Karwa Transportation Company, Mawani Qatar, Qatari Diar, Huawei Qatar, Vodafone Qatar and Q-Auto (Audi).
