Well-known Pakistani academician and prolific poet Fartash Syed passed away in Pakistan on Sunday.
According to sources, Syed, who hailed from Luddan, a town located on the bank of the River Sutlej at District Vehari in Pakistan, passed away due to COVID-19 complications.
Fartash, aged 54, taught at Pak Shama School and College and Pakistan International School before joining a university as a lecturer in Pakistan.
He had a long association with Qatar-based literary organisation Majlis e Frogh e Urdu Adab, established in 1996. He participated in numerous international literary symposiums (mushairas) in Pakistan and abroad.
Syed, who did masters in Urdu from Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan in 1992, was author of well-acclaimed books Har Warq Par Ussi Ka Naam (1992), Hashia ( 2009), Bas Amn Chahye (2009), West Pakistan Family Court Act 1964 (2010), Sinafi Tashadud; Aakhir Kab Tak (2011) and Hashia Aur Hashia Ke Baad (2011).
