Doha Festival City (DFC), ‘Qatar’s one and only choice for shopping, dining and entertainment’, is celebrating Ramadan with special cultural interactive activities designed to take visitors on a journey across the globe, spanning a variety of cultures and traditions under the theme ‘Ramadan Around the World’.
Throughout the month of Ramadan, visitors of the mall can enjoy a special Ramadan ‘Mosahraty Large Drum’ photo opportunity, an interactive installation where they can take pictures while reenacting the famous Mosahraty. The ‘Mosahraty Large Drum’ will be available for customers daily, during the mall’s working hours, and will be located at the Entertainment Node on the ground floor, near The Cheesecake Factory restaurant.
Furthermore, a special ‘Moon Watchers’ educational stand display will be exhibited for visitors to view the backlit moon phases during Ramadan and reflect on their meaning. It is located on the first floor between Eataly and Ladurée.
Visitors can also enjoy a special ‘Islamic Arts and Crafts Booth’, displaying Islamic heritage from all around the world, including paintings, wood cravings with Islamic patterns and Islamic rugs. The booth will boast a TV screen playing documentary videos about Islamic crafts and trades spanning different traditions. It will be located at the Atrium Node, near the West Court-1 entrance.
In addition, a dedicated ‘Dates Museum’ stand will display the different types of dates for visitors. The podium will be located on the ground floor, near the South Food Court entrance and next to Karafirin restaurant.
Robert Hall, DFC General Manager, said: “Every year during the Holy Month of Ramadan, we offer something special for all Qatar community to enjoy. This year, we would like to invite all our customers to visit us and experience our special Ramadan spirit through several unique cultural and educational displays, devised in a fun and safe way, and create amazing memories whilst learning about new cultures and the Islamic arts and crafts traditions from around the world.”
Throughout Ramadan, Festival City façade and different areas inside the mall will be adorned with special Ramadan decorations.
All the interactive installations are opened to visitors during the mall’s working hours.
During the month of Ramadan, between April 12 to April 24, the mall’s trading hours will be from 10:00 to 15:00, and from 19:00 to 00:00, while the hypermarket will be open continuously from 09:00 to 00:00. From April 25 to May 11, general mall trading hours will be from 10:00 to 00:00, with an option to trade until 01:00. The hypermarket will be open continuously from 09:00 to 00:00.
In line with the preventative measures set out by the authorities, DFC has introduced stringent health and safety measures throughout the mall for its staff and visitors.
This includes a thorough mall disinfection treatment on a weekly basis, robust cleaning, and sanitization operations during mall trading hours, 225 hand sanitising stations installed in the areas that have commonly touched surfaces.
At the entrance to the mall and all shops, visitors must show their green Ehteraz QR code and should wear a face mask during their whole time in the mall. Following the latest government restrictions, kids below 16 years old are not allowed to enter the mall, and the mall continues to operate with overall capacity and parking spaces reduced to 30 percent.
All food courts, restaurants and cafés are closed until further notice, with takeaway and delivery options still available. Fitting rooms of all retail stores, prayer rooms and ablution areas, health and beauty centers, Edge Fitness, kids’ playgrounds, play centers and theme parks are closed until further notice. Physical distancing stickers in common queuing areas, such as ATMs, banks, telecommunication kiosks and branches and various retail shops were installed to help shoppers keep the required physical distance as set forth in the guidelines by the authorities.
Stores will provide sanitisers on entry and at cash points to ensure the highest level of hygiene.
