The Embassy of Bangladesh in Qatar celebrated the Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh’s Independence and National Day on March 26 with an array of events.
The day’s activities began with the hoisting of the national flag by Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Qatar HE Md. Jashim Uddin on the embassy premises.
A discussion meeting was held on the significance of the Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence. On the occasion, messages from the president, prime minister, foreign minister and state minister for foreign affairs of Bangladesh were read out and a video message delivered by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was played.
In his remarks, Ambassador Md. Jashim Uddin paid deep respect to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and all the martyrs of the Great Liberation War. He said the 50th anniversary of independence is an important milestone in Bangladesh’s national life and highlighted the successes achieved under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
In the evening, a reception was hosted at a local hotel to mark the day. Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs HE Yusuf Mohammed Al Othman Fakhroo graced the reception as the Guest of Honour.
Director of Protocol Ambassador Ibrahim Yousif Abdullah Fakhroo, dean of the diplomatic corps, and embassy officials were present on the occasion.
The event began by playing the national anthems of the two countries followed by the unveiling of a commemorative plaque to mark the golden jubilee of independence.
In his speech, Ambassador Mohammad Jashim Uddin mentioned the socio-economic successes made by Bangladesh in its 50 years of history and urged to fulfil the dream of the Father of the Nation under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The Bangladeshambassador pledged to work closely with Qatar to further strengthen the excellent bilateral relations by exploring and expanding new avenues of cooperation. The programme was broadcast live on digital platforms for the expatriate Bangladeshis in Qatar.
