A Three day Qatar Travel Mart (QTM) 2025 was opened on Monday at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC) by HE Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry, in the presence of HE Saad bin Ali Al-Kharji, Chairman of Qatar Tourism, diplomats, travel, and hospitality experts.

Chairperson of Tourism Committee of Armenia, Lusine Gevorgyan in an exclusive interview with the Qatar Tribune at the Qatar Travel Mart (QTM) expressed her profound delight at her country's inaugural and significant participation in the event. The substantial and culturally vibrant Armenian stand served as a testament to its commitment to the Qatari market.

She said that this landmark participation directly results from the fruitful relations established during her official visit to Doha in May. ‘We are back with our beautiful and large stand’, confirming that the collaborative momentum with Qatari colleagues has now culminated in Armenia's first-ever presence at QTM.

She added that Armenia is showcasing a rich tapestry of its culture, heritage, and cuisine, designed to offer visitors a genuine taste of Armenian hospitality.

The Chairperson of Tourism Committee of Armenia elaborated on the diverse experiences Armenia offers, emphasizing its renowned hospitality and distinct regional gastronomy, which she described as ‘very tasty and very different’.

She proudly announced that Armenia is celebrating a triumphant year, having recently secured three prestigious international awards. These accolades include being named ‘Best Historical Destination Country’ at the World Tourism Awards and ‘Best Adventure Destination 2025’ at ITB Berlin, in addition to ranking among the top ten travel destinations by the renowned Wanderlust magazine. “This year we have three prizes,” she noted, highlighting a successful schedule of seven expos across Europe, Asia, and the Arab world.

Underscoring the critical importance of connectivity, Gevorgyan affirmed the value of the existing direct flights between Doha and Yerevan. The current strategic goal, however, is to promote both cities not merely as transit hubs, but as primary tourism destinations. She positioned Armenia as a compelling four-season destination, offering everything from winter sports in its snowy mountains to adventure tourism around the pristine Lake Sevan and within its vast forests.

She is heading a delegation of about 20 members from the national tourism board and six private sector companies, including tour operators, hotels, and transport services. Gevorgyan confirmed productive meetings with Qatari officials and strong interest from local businesses during ongoing B2B sessions.

In her closing remarks, the Chairperson of Armenian Tourism Committee signaled a promising and dynamic start to deepening tourism ties, extending a warm invitation for more Qatari visitors to explore the ancient and modern wonders of Armenia.
