The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has launched ‘Nar’aakom’, a bilingual (English and Arabic) mobile app that provides comprehensive healthcare management on-the-go -- from accessing upcoming appointments to applying for a health card online.
With the launch of Nar’aakom, PHCC has made it easier for people in Qatar to access digitised services from its 27 health centres by making healthcare services easily accessible on the smartphones.
PHCC has also successfully been awarded with two ISO certifications, including the ISO 20000 related to IT service management and ISO 27001 related to IT security. Speaking at a press conference on Monday, PHCC Managing Director Dr Mariam AbdulMalik said, “Nar’aakom app allows people in Qatar to benefit from many of PHCC’s digital services from their smartphones. It is an extension of the digital transformation of healthcare services that PHCC rolled out early last year.
“With the mobile app, we empower people with the ability to access health services anywhere, anytime at their convenience in a secure platform; thus encouraging patients to take ownership of their health. By launching our mobile application not only do we enhance the convenient access to health care for everyone, but we also use this powerful tool to continue to place our patient’s safety at the heart of it while promoting continuity care.” She added that with the application allows the patients to access information and care faster and secure anywhere at any time.
During COVD-19, PHCC accelerated its digital transformation to facilitate no/minimal-contact care delivery through virtual consultations over the phone and video; a 24x7 Community Call Center; and an electronically-dispensed medication facility with home-delivery service.
PHCC Assistant Managing Director Musallam Mubarak Al Nabit said, “Nar’aakom gives complete control to manage your and your family’s health service requirements. You can request a new appointment at one of PHCC health centres, apply for a change of your assigned health centre or change the assigned family physician. It also allows you to add dependents to your account, so as to manage requests for any of these services on their behalf.”
According to him, people can now view their health card number and see when it expires. The app will allow one to navigate to Hukoomi’s website to renew health card online
Executive Director of Health Information and Communication Technology (HICT) at PHCC Alexandra Tarazi said, “There is an opportunity to give an electronic feedback on the application and we look forward to receiving them. We have lots of plans to improve the application. We have plenty of ideas to improve the services. Soon, people will be able to request an electronic copy of their medical records. Patients will also have a quick access to patient portal healthy life and to other applications. We look forward to receiving more feedback from people.”
