The Bangladeshi Embassy in Doha organised a colourful programme to mark the Glorious Victory Day on December 16.
Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Qatar HE Md Jasim Uddin inaugurated the ceremony by hoisting the national flag, in the presence of a large number of expatriate Bangladeshis.
The programme began with recitation from the Holy Qur’an. A special prayer was offered seeking salvation of the departed souls of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, his martyred family members, four national leaders and three million martyrs, as well as for the development and continued progress of Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
On the occasion of the Glorious Victory Day, messages from the president, prime minister, foreign minister and state minister for foreign affairs of Bangladesh were read out, followed by the presentation of a video especially made for the occasion.
Md Mahbur Rahman, councilor (Political and Economic Affairs), made a PowerPoint presentation on Bangabandhu, Glorious Victory Day and the realisation of the dream of Independence.
In his speech, the ambassador paid deep homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, four national leaders and three million martyrs. He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working tirelessly to build the golden Bengal of the dream of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The ambassador also spoke about the socioeconomic development in Bangladesh and accomplishments in the international arena under the dynamic leadership of PM Sheikh Hasina. In this context, he mentioned about the completion of Padma Bridge funded from Bangladesh’s own sources which symbolises the country’s achievement, leadership and self-confidence. The ambassador also said that this accomplishment would help project a brighter image of Bangladesh to the international community.
HE Md Jasim Uddin urged the expatriate Bangladeshis to actively take part in the development activities of Bangladesh. He called upon the expatriates to participate in the celebration of the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation and the golden jubilee of independence of Bangladesh. The expatriate Bangladeshis can also contribute to share the positive stories of Bangladesh in addition to following the local rules and customs, he added.
