DR Amanulla Vadakkangara has become the first Indian expatriate in Qatar to get membership of the prestigious International Arabic Federation. The Beirut-based federation has members from different parts of the world, engaged in teaching and popularising Arabic.
The federation promotes Arabic language through various programmes involving Arabic scholars, researchers and students.
Vadakkangara, formerly the head of Arabic department of Ideal Indian School, Doha, was nominated for the federation based on his contributions to promoting Arabic language and literature not only among the students, but also among the public.
Vadakkangara is the author of more than 40 books on Arabic language and his books are being prescribed in schools in India and abroad. His book on the history of Arabic literature is a recommended reference source for Arabic degree courses in India. Vadakkangara is also the honourary member of the academic council of the Arabic department, Farook College, India. His books on spoken Arabic are very popular among various expatriate communities.
“I am delighted to be associated with a world forum and would do my best to promote various activities of this organisation,” said Vadakkangara.
