THE Birla Public School (BPS) held its virtual investiture ceremony for academic year 2020-21 recently. School Principal AP Sharma administered the oath of office to the newly elected Head Girl Samiha Reza, Head Boy Varun Girish Advani and other office-bearers of the Prefect Board, house captains and vice-captains of all the four houses.
The Chief Executive Officer and Board Member of Qatar Stock Exchange Rashid bin Ali Al Mansoori was the chief guest at the virtual event.
Addressing the gathering, Mansoori applauded the young leaders of BPS and stressed the importance of determination in education.
Chairman Gope Shahani, Vice Chairperson Ms Maria Thomas, Directors Mohan Thomas, C V Rappai and Lukose Chacko, management representatives Ms Chindu Rappai, Nevil Lukose, and Ms Malavika Khimji, vice principals Ms Radhika Rele, Rajesh Pillai and Ms Bhavna Sonkamble, head mistresses, heads of various departments, year coordinators, house masters and mistresses, along with parents, students, teachers and well-wishers congregated virtually to witness the investiture ceremony.
In his address, Chairman Gope Shahani admired the zeal of young leaders and underlined the role of Student Council in cultivating leadership qualities amongst students.
Principal AP Sharma congratulated the newly inducted office bearers and urged them to carry out their responsibilities with sincerity. Parents of the new office bearers proudly invested their wards with the badges and sashes and blessed them.
Head Boy Varun Girish Advani and Head Girl Samiha Reza addressed the gathering and assured of working to achieve more glory for the school.
The ceremony also featured presentation of melodic songs and a spellbinding dance by the young students of the school. The semi classical dance was ingeniously crafted to convey the present challenging circumstances, while the song ‘Bind us together’, reflected communal harmony and unity. The cultural events added colour and aura to the ceremony. 
Altogeher 32 students from grade XI selected as assistant prefects, 140 Student Council members from grade 6-12, the house masters and house mistresses were also introduced to the spectators through a slide show. 
Master Jineshwar and Ms Ann Rose were the masters of ceremony. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by the Speaker of the newly initiated Student Council Neil Biju Samuel. Samuel thanked all the well-wishers of BPS for their inspiring words, immense contributions and gracious presence.
