Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) has announced that Dr. Omar Khan, Assistant Professor at the College of Health and Life Sciences (CHLS), has been elected to the Royal Society of Biology Council for recognition of his contributions to the field of post-translational protein modification and its impact on health and disease.
Dr. Khan will act as a Trustee of the Society by joining the Council.
The College of Health and Life Sciences at Hamad Bin Khalifa University provides essential educational and research training to future leaders in the fields of biomedical sciences, genomics, and precision medicine.
The Royal Society of Biology was established in 2009, the society act as a single unified voice for biology and represents a diverse membership of individuals, societies and other organisations advising government and influencing policy; advancing education and professional development; supporting members, and engaging and encouraging public interest in the life sciences.
The Society has been created by the unification of the Biosciences Federation and the Institute of Biology, and is building on the heritage and reputation of these two organisations to champion the study and development of biology, and provide expert guidance and opinion. In 2015 it was granted a Royal title to become the Royal Society of Biology.
