The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has fixed the maximum selling price for vegetables and fruits at retail outlets until April 18, which can be renewed.
In a statement on Sunday, the MoCI said anyone found flouting the decision will be penalised and further action will be taken against him.
As per the decision, all retail outlets are obliged to sell the vegetables and fruits at the set price.
Similarly, the MoCI has also set the price limits for fish and seafood.
The list, which set prices according to the size of the fish (small, medium and large), applies to all retail outlets across the country until April 18, which is subject to extension. The ministry has urged the public to report non-compliance on its hotline 16001.
