A number of students of Qatar Academy Al Wakra were recently honoured for their winning scientific projects at The Young Innovators Award Ceremony, held as part of the International Conference for Sustainable Energy: Water-Environment Nexus in the Desert Climate 2019 (IC-SEWEN ’19), organised by Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI) at the Qatar National Convention Center.
The students addressed Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through their projects.
In the Intermediate-level team category, Grade six students namely Ali Saoudal Thani, Yousef Khalid al Kuwari, Ghanim Hassan al Jaber and Grade five students Rashid Mohammed al Ghafri, Ahmad Nasser al Obaidly and Faisal Hassan al Jaber won second prize (silver award) for their Future Energy Innovators project.
Similarly, in the Junior-level team category, Grade three students, Al Mayasa Mohd Alrayahi, Noora YaserAbuzannad, Shaikha Fadhel al Saadi and Grade four student GhalyaFadhelal Saadi won the silver award for their Small Farms project.
In the Junior-level Team category, Grade four students: Yousef Ahmed al Emadi, Nasser Mohamed al Janahi, Hashim Ahmed al Sayed andHamad Masoud Nabina won the third prize (bronze award)for their Smart Phone project.
Furthermore, in the Intermediate-level category, Grade six studentJassim Mohammed al Emadi and Grade five students: FahadMasoudNabina, Yousef Khalid al Suwaidi, Ali Hamadal Sufar and Abdulla Abdulrahman Haidar won Special Award for their project ‘Together We Protect Our Planet’.
Ghanim Hassan al Jabersaid: “It is an honour to win this prestigious award. However, our mission is to explore and contribute to the achievement of the SDGs for our better future.”
“We are committed to making a real contribution to the sustainability efforts to bring about a real difference to the world we live in”, Ali Saoud al Thani emphasised.
