Qatar University (QU) has signed an agreement with the Manuscript House (Dar Al-Makhtutat)—Sultan Ahmet Waqf in Istanbul—to enhance joint cooperation in academic and scientific activities. The agreement was signed by Dr. Ibrahim Al-Ansari, dean of the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies, and Prof. Mahmoud Masri, director of the Manuscript House (Dar Al-Makhtutat) in Istanbul, in the presence of several officials from both QU and the Manuscript House (Dar Al-Makhtutat)—Sultan Ahmet Waqf.
The MoU aims to strengthen collaboration between the two sides in the implementation of joint projects across various fields related to manuscript and printed heritage—such as collection, preservation and restoration, imaging and digitisation, accessibility, and cataloguing—giving both parties priority participation in the execution of such projects. It also includes cooperation in the publication of significant heritage texts, selected by a joint committee, with the publications bearing the logos of both institutions.
Furthermore, the agreement outlines cooperation in the preparation of manuscript databases and the exchange of available resources, with each party hosting the other’s database. It also provides for the joint exchange of digitized manuscript images in accordance with the regulations and policies of both institutions.
The MoU also includes collaboration in organizing conferences, seminars, workshops, training courses, lectures, and other activities related to heritage, manuscripts, and the history of science. In addition, it covers the provision of consultations and exchange of expertise in various areas related to heritage and manuscript services, as well as cooperation in any other fields of mutual interest.
