Berlin: Taking photographs up women’s skirts in public is to become a crime, the German cabinet decided on Wednesday.
The practice, which is widely known as "upskirting” and involves using selfie sticks to take revealing photos on pavements, stairs and escalators, will be punished more harshly in future.
The same will apply to photos targeting the bustline. It had previously been seen as a lower level misdemeanour.
The new measure has yet to be passed by parliament. (DPA)
