Inter Milan will have the 2-1 advantage when they face Bayern Munich in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals on Wednesday, but coach Simone Inzaghi warned that his side can’t focus on the score.
“We can’t think about the score, only the performance. We can’t look at our record against them, which is not positive. We’re a mature side that knows the value of the opposition,” he said in a news conference on Tuesday.
The tie between Serie A leaders Inter and Bundesliga leaders Bayern has attracted a lot of media attention. But Inzaghi said he’s not bothered by the pressure.
“There’s more pride than tension. We know it’ll be a tough game and that we need to forget the first-leg result. We played well in Munich. We know how good they are, and we’ll need to have a really great game,” he said.
Asked about his future at Inter, Inzaghi refused to give any detail, saying “I don’t think it’s the right time.” His contract with the Italian team expires in June 2026.
“I’m happy and Inter and that will be the key factor in my decision.
Talking about my future doesn’t seem appropriate. I’m feeling good, and I’ve got a great relationship with the club. We’ll discuss it at the end of the season.”
